Perstorp is world-leading within areas at specialized chemical markets. Our products are sold to companies in paint, chemicals and plastic-based industries. They also include products for the engineering and construction industries, such as polyols, performance chemicals and resins. We create winning formulas within selected niches of organic and polymer chemistry, that offer much more than innovative chemical solutions.

It needs to stick and shine!

Artists work with different kinds of material to create things, tell a story and to touch us. The more the artists knows about the materials the freer they can work - technology shouldn't get in the way of creativity.

Paints and coatings is one of Perstorp's biggest segments. We manufacture both base chemicals that act as building blocks for the paints and a range of other specialty chemicals that give the paints specific properties.
Although we mainly sell for industrial use, there are a number of our products in paints used in culture, such as oil paints, spray paints and powder coatings that can be made into paintings, graffiti or for decorating trucks.

What does piano gloss mean to you?
Think about a piano, a guitar or other musical instrument. They're often coated with high gloss paints, made from resins that possibly contain allyl ethers or non-saturated polyesters from Perstorp. It's important that these paints are shiny and hardwearing. But when painting you might appreciate other properties, like the paint not smelling, not running or drying quickly.
We can fix that too.

Improved printing and graphics
When it comes to graphic design and print, chemicals also play a crucial role in the finished result. Using different techniques artists and printing companies transfer motifs to plates and then onto different types of material such as fabrics, paper, perspex etc. Photo-tempered technologies are based on Perstorp's systems.

On stage
A stage set at the theatre is just like a building site, with construction and painting carried out using our molecules. But apart from that our allyl ethers are also in thickening agents in make-up and hair-care products, and the props are possibly moulded plastic that contain our unsaturated polyesters. If nothing else it's an excellent choice for artists who want to mould three-dimensional works because it's a more stable, eco-friendly solution that doesn't yellow and contains less styrene, which is an unhealthy substance.

Wires and circuit boards
If we broaden our horizons a little and think of how much culture is produced and consumed digitally then we should feel even more important. Our systems are used in making circuit boards and our plasticizers are used for making wires as soft and flexible as they need to be for dancing around a stage.

Screen time

We currently consume a lot of art and culture via different kinds of screens. Our molecules are used in them to, some as building blocks and some for making them as scratch-resistant as possible - more about that in September.
